Maximum Penalty: 180 days jail, $1,000.00 fine
Summary: Client was shopping at Kohl’s Department Store and decided to grab a couple of extra items for which she failed to pay for. Client was confronted by loss prevention while attempting to exit the store. The police were called and she was charged with a Class E theft.
Result: We were able to get the charges dismissed by showing that the client had a stable job history, a lack of criminal record and documented emotional issues for which she was in treatment for. Client agreed to perform community service and continue in counseling in exchange for a dismissal of the charge.
