The National Academy of Criminal Defense Attorneys (NACDA) recently announced its list of the top 10 defense attorneys in each state. NACDA’s Rigid Selection Process

To satisfy these pressing needs, the NACDA created a rigid and independent selection process to objectively determine who are the best defense lawyers in each of the 50 states in the U.S.
To even be considered for the prestigious designation by the NACDA as one of the best criminal defense attorneys in a state, a lawyer needs to be nominated by either one of his or her peers in the state bar, or by one of the NACDA’s research staff members. Many of those nominated, however, don’t satisfy the Academy’s minimum requirements.
Those who do satisfy the NACDA’s minimum requirements are extensively researched by the Academy’s processing committee. Factors include case outcomes, publications, peer and client reviews, formal criminal defense training, and other legal awards. Once the list of attorneys has been brought down to the top 50 in each state, the finalists are presented to the NACDA’s Board of Governors, who choose the state’s top 10.
